Client:
UserTesting is a video-first platform that gives companies a way to receive customer feedback from their target audience, about their digital products, to improve digital experiences and drive innovation.
ROle:
For this project, I directed the casting, filming, and editing of a series of vignettes to be used on UserTesting’s website and to expand their internal asset library.
The Brief
Goals:
Create a series of 10 vignettes, in video and photo, to portray the experience of UserTesting’s customers and contributors interacting with the platform
Capture additional portrait stills of talent with a variety of expressions
Level up the image quality, while feeling consistent with UserTesting’s brand and existing assets
Audience:
The primary purpose of this content was to populate the UserTesting website, to reinforce their brand, but was expected to also be used in any other future marketing or internal assets. So the target audience included potential customers, contributors, or anyone who would interact with the UserTesting brand.
SCOPE:
10 edited video vignettes to be delivered as video masters and compressed GIFs. All raw photo and video assets were also delivered to expand UserTesting’s internal asset library.

creative process
My creative process started with researching the brand, followed by a meeting with the client to understand their needs and goals. I then synthesized the brand and objectives with visual language, which was communicated through a clear creative treatment, to align our expectations around look and storytelling.
After conducting a location scout, I created a thorough breakdown and shot list based on the types of scenes, actions, and characters that UserTesting wanted to portray. This helped ensure we would capture the coverage we needed to tell the story, both in terms of visuals and brand narrative.

Limitations & SOlutions
This project was all about striking the right balance between image quality and quantity of coverage. With a 2-day shoot, we had just enough time to capture everything we needed. There was only so far we could push the production value within our budget, so the rest came down to intentional shot choices and strategic time management.
